How It Started...
The idea of a reliable and propaganda-free travel guide from the eyes of locals started in 2009 when I was vacationing in Miami. Despite many visits to Miami, I continued to feel like a stranger, as I was still being directed by my hotel concierge to tourist attractions, mediocre restaurants, and common sightseeing locations. If I were a local, I would know exactly where to hang out to have a good time, where to find authentic and amazing eateries, and sightseeing locations where it’s less commercial and probably offers a better view than tourist spots. But I didn’t have any of those insights. Even on the internet it was difficult to find authentic travel information as it was masked with layers of advertisements and biased information. On the flight home I felt the need to publish a travel guide that would equip visitors to Vancouver with as much local’s knowledge as possible so they will not bear the same “foreign” feelings I experienced. And The Secret Guide to Vancouver was born.
The Secret Guide to Vancouver was found on the premise to provide visitors with a local experience by indulging them with the knowledge of the locals about hidden authentic restaurants, the best hidden sightseeing locations in the city that only locals know of, and revealing activities that are popular to locals that are not normally recommended in other travel guides.
